The Drexel University College of Nursing and Health Professions received a $1.49 million grant from the federal Health Services and Research Administration to share its expertise in training nurses in the use of technology to improve patient safety and outcomes.
Under the program, Drexel will train 45 faculty members from partner schools in technology-related initiatives it pioneered covering areas such as the extensive use of personal digital assistants, patient simulation laboratories and Web-based education.
Drexel will be working with the Pennsylvania/District of Columbia Nursing Education Technology Collaborative, a partnership of the Community College of Philadelphia, Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and Howard University.
At the end of the training, the partner schools will share the results with members of the state university and community college systems and among historically black colleges and universities.
