The NLN’s Survey of US Nursing Programs produces key educational statistics from all American nursing programs
August 24th, 2008 By Online Nursing Category: Registered NursingThe NLN’s survey research program is designed to collect vital statistics on the nurse educator workforce, the nursing student population, and nursing education pedagogies. Each of our annual and biannual surveys illuminates a component of the teaching-learning environment and contributes to our overall understanding of the changing topography of nursing education.
Among the NLN’s annual studies, the Survey of Nurse Educators focuses each year on a current issue of import to US health care generally, and to nurse faculty, nursing and/or nursing education specifically. The 2006-2007 survey, the NLN/Carnegie National Survey of Nurse Educators on the topics of compensation, workload, and teaching practice, is yielding very exciting findings.
In addition, the NLN’s Survey of US Nursing Programs produces key educational statistics from all American nursing programs. For more than 50 years this study has been an essential source of trend data on the country’s nursing student population, serving educators, researchers, policy makers, and all others who monitor trends in the size and characteristics of the nursing workforce pipeline. The Nurse Faculty Census, conducted biannually, generates key statistics on the nation’s nurse faculty population, monitoring trends in faculty demographics, salaries, and vacancies. And the Annual Survey of State Boards of Nursing produces a comprehensive database of state-approved schools of nursing in the United States, this survey also contributes data featured in the Guides to State Approved Schools of Nursing book series.
